Summertime (Ending) Sadness

Labor Day is just around the corner, which means the symbolic end of summer, my favorite season. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of fall and cooler temperatures, especially after more than 20 days of 100+ temperatures this summer. But I’m not a fan of shorter days, winter blues and snowy roads. I know all that is coming sooner rather than later, however, and I’m bracing for it.

I have some upcoming travel in the works through the next six months, though, which will make the seasonal change easier to deal with because there will be things to look forward to.

Data Centers in the News

The month started with an event hosted by the Forum for Real Economic Emancipation, or FREE, about hyperscale data centers. FREE is a regular client for ke comms, and the grassroots organization hosts regular public discussions every few months about topics relating to the economy and economic policies.

Hundreds of people turned out for the most recent public discussion, a look at data centers in northeast Oklahoma. Last month I shared some of the preview stories and wins ahead of the event. There was a lot of live coverage of the event, too, which I coordinated. See some of those stories here, here and here.

ke comms Grows Its Global Presence

I’ve been working with more international clients, which has been exciting for me. A UK-based creative company retained me to help with a CEO announcement (see a Spanish-language story here), while I’m currently working with another UK-based company on a two-part announcement.

New Clients, Partnerships and Opportunities

Fellow entrepreneurs know business development never stops – even with a full slate. I continue to hold meetings, respond to RFPs and grow partnerships.

I’ve brought on a new author client for a short-term engagement, so watch for some news about that soon. More partnerships and collaborations are also in the works. I am also handling a social-media activation for a past client.

A Free Resource

I also took part in a webinar about building a sustainable freelance PR career early in the month. I think it’s so important to share knowledge, especially without barriers, and I was grateful to have the opportunity to learn from some fellow publicists. See and read the recap here
