Today is International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, a day to raise awareness about Indigenous Peoples across the globe.
Nana Kwesi Osei Bonsu is the seventh-generation descendent of King Osei Tutu, founder of the Ashanti Empire of the ancient Gold Coast, which is present-day Ghana. Nana is also the founder of Land Rights Defenders, a nonprofit organization aimed at raising awareness about land rights abuses in Ghana and elsewhere. He now lives in Ohio.
Nana believes strongly in the rights of Indigenous Peoples, and he has written about his work in op-eds here and here. There is also a story about him here and a Q&A here.
Nana and ke comms have only been working together for a short period, but we are excited about the work we have achieved together thus far! Stay tuned for more.
