In partnership with Resolute PR, ke comms was able to secure this fabulous feature-length story about the University of Tulsa Cherokee Women's AcceleratHER Fellowship and one of its fellows making lasting change in northeastern Oklahoma.

ke comms often partners with Resolute PR to handle national-level media outreach due to ke comms’ contacts and expertise with national-level storytelling. This project was no different. For six months, Kristi pitched stories around the women taking part in the fellowship. In the middle of December 2024, she pitched a story about one of the women and housing to a reporter at USA Today, Andrea Riquier. Andrea responded within minutes, asking Kristi to circle back in the new year. She did, and the story grew from there.

Multiple interviews with the main subject, Amanda Thompson, took place over Microsoft Teams, along with other individuals. Kristi also helped facilitate the interview with former Tulsa Mayor and former dean of TU’s Business College Kathy Taylor. She also worked with Andrea to find the best hook for the story and how to shape it, making sure to leave Andrea with the final say on what would come out of it.

A few months later, and a day after International Women’s Day, this beautiful story with stunning photos of Amanda Thompson’s journey to end the housing crisis in Tulsa and across the Cherokee Nation came out. The story appeared later that week on A1 above the fold, a prominent position for any story.

ke comms couldn’t be more thrilled with the outstanding work of all involved!
