May is the unofficial start to summer – my favorite season. It means longer days, outdoor activities, laying by the pool and trying to stay cool. It also means summer getaways.
This year, Tulsa has been busy promoting the Centennial of Route 66, which officially takes place on Nov. 11, but is being celebrated throughout all of 2026. Through my media relations consultancy partnership with Resolute PR, I have been able to earn coverage for the 10-year anniversary of Kitchen 66, the kickstarter incubator for food entrepreneurs at Mother Road Market.
In May, I earned several placements for Kitchen 66, including these two features from Rolling Out as well as this wonderful spread by friend and colleague Heide Brandes in Bon Appetit Magazine!
The Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum also received a shout-out in a local TV story about traveling the famed highway in Green Country. I helped coordinate the interview, which can be seen here.
The United State’s 250th birthday is also coming up, and Black Liberation Indigenous Sovereignty (BLIS) Collective is taking a wider lens to the history of the country through its June 20 Reclamation Day events. I’ll be in Brooklyn for the day to support on-site media activities, and through my partnership with Human Impact Solutions, I earned media coverage for BLIS in Rolling Out and in Indian Country Today.
Author, nonprofit founder and activist Sandra Barnhill also received some coverage love from Rolling Out. Read her features here and here.
Finally, my last Route 66 story in TulsaPeople ran this month. It can be read here.
